My husband Bob and I are early retirees and travel bloggers/vloggers who operate messysuitcase.com and YouTube.com/messysuitcase. We live half the year in Cabo Rojo, Puerto Rico, with summers in Vermont, and a bit of travel mixed in. We were planning to live a nomadic life in retirement, but COVID derailed our plans, forcing us to return to the United States from Mexico City in March 2020. Our college kids joined us. But they are back at school, and we resumed travel in fall 2021. We visited England first, then returned to Puerto Rico, where we had lived for a couple of years in the 90s. We fell in love with the island anew and, tired of living out of suitcases and wanting to make friends and feel more invested in our community, we decided to settle here.
