I am a retired educator (science and math) who seeks a new adventure in life. I have decided to look for a new place to possibly live and was fortunately able to sell one of my homes in Grand Rapids, freeing me up to look for other options. I am tired of being cold and miserable in the winter! And I now have the freedom to look at other possibilities. As a result, in a giant leap of faith, I have made flight reservations to fly to Ecuador, not knowing anyone or having any specific plans other than that I will arrive in Quito on Dec. 7, and return to MI on April 11. I realized that I was able to do things like this when I was younger and there is no reason I can't make these new chapters of my life just as interesting and exciting. The easiest thing for me to do would be to go back to Costa Rica where I have friends and have been going for several years. I have , however, been reading and studying the options and it looks like Ecuador offers greater opportunity for expats and a higher standard of living for the best price. I will obviously need some help and I believe that there are good people out there who are in Ecuador and willing to share their experiences and advice to help make this a positive experience and share with me the many opportunities available in Ecuador. By the way, This is also the first time I have ever joined any type of blog site too. So I am truly stepping out of my comfort zone. I thank you for taking the time to read this and I hope that some of you will be willing to help.
