Mon parcours
I've stayed in SE Asia since 2005, but only as a retiree, a tourist. I have travelled extensively in Asia on my bicycle, and still do. Presently, I'm mostly criss-crossing between Cambodia/Vietnam. I spent the whole of 2020, 2021 and the beginning of 2022 locked in by Covid in Vietnam (Chau Doc). So lucky that I avoided getting stuck in rural Cambodia!
Oh, I like the extreme friendliness of the Vietnamese. They have offered me a "home from home". Then again, I find all of these Mekhong-countries equally hospitable, it's just that Vietnam is the least expensive and most modern country of them all, as a combination.
I still can't speak Vietnamese, and neither can they speak English, so I sometimes feel a little isolated.
I'm a retiree, and still maintain an address in Sweden, but have not visited for a long time.
Still my home-country.
Too expensive.
