I immigrated to Canada in 2005. Since then I completed a BA in Economics and Arabic and a MA (minus the final disertation) in Foreign Affairs at the University of Ottawa. In 2010 I came to the University of Calgary as a visiting student for my last 2 courses, Stats and Economics of Energy and Environment. I am still in Calgary looking for an internship with a Cnadian company dealing in energy, preferably with activities in Romania, Eastern Europe, Turkey or the Middle East. I would like to write my final disertation on a subject of interest for the entity I would be an intern with and my main interest is international commerce with regards to Canadian companies.
I joined expat.com on 19 December 2011.
I am of Romanian origin. I lived in Bucharest for the most part of my life. I was a policy analyst at the Chamber of Deputies for 7 years and I researched the energy "acquis communautaire", the EU legislation in the domain of energy to be adopted by countries in transition. I also was a senior editor at the ALL Publishing House for 4 years and I edited and translated several political history books from English to Romanian.
I am familiar with all the details and intricacies of social and political life in Romania and know how the system works.I know personally many people prominent in the economic and political domains.
Corruption and outdated behaviour, lack of real understanding of the outside world and petty parochialism are still much of the fabric of every day life.
I came here as a visiting student for my lst 2 coures as a MA student in Public Administration and Foreign Affairs. I completed my courses load by the end of 2010 but then I lost both my parents within the next 10 months, my dad in December 2010 and my mom in November 2011. I could not concentrate on writing my final disertation while having family obligations and heavy loss. Now I am ready to continue on my chosen path and I am looking for a Canadian company with activities in Romania or close by to work for.
Calgary is a most beautiful city, it is not cramped like Bucharest where one has not enough space to breathe. People here are friendly and sincere.
There are not as many oportunities to work in my domain as I had hoped, at least not for one like me who knows nobody here and has not networks.
