Hi! I currently live in the Philippine Islands. I moved here in January, 2011, after living in Panama City, Panama, for 4 1/2 years. I've always loved the Philippines ever since I came here the first time with the US Navy in 1983. I've been working in the internet industry since roughly 1996, and ran bulletin boards from 1988 until around 1996, when I really got into the internet and the World Wide Web. I currently build, fix and manage web sites for a growing list of clients, and I have my own network of websites and blogs. I'm in the process of developing http://www.BlogsForExpats.com, a community site where Expats can learn about blogging for fun or profit.

I love living here. I was just outside, watering some plants I'm trying to grow (and adventure in itself!), and I looked around at the palm trees, and could smell the ocean air, and started to giggle. I'm still absolutely thrilled to actually be living here, even after one year. I don't want to go home!
I love the people, the environment and the weather (except the typhoons). I love waking up in the morning and walking down to the beach (2 minute casual stroll), and having coffee and reading the newspaper (yes, I still read those - analog can be good). I love traveling around the country practicing photography. The Philippines has so many unique environments there's never a lack of subject matter. From jungles (sorry - (Rain Forests), to Beaches, to Mountains, to.. well, you get the picture.
The infrastructure is 30 years old and is not improving very quickly, once you get out of certain parts of Metro Manila. The one thing I dislike the most is that my internet connection is incredibly slow and buggy. That and the daily power outages and lack of water pressure :)
