Md. Mahmudul Alam is currently affiliated with School of Economics, Finance & Banking (SEFB, COB), Universiti Utara Malaysia (UUM) as a faculty member. He obtained PhD and MA degrees in Environment and Development from National University of Malaysia (UKM), and BBA (Hons.) degree in Finance and Economics from North South University, Bangladesh. He is a researcher and practitioner in sustainable economic development in Bangladesh and Malaysia. Based on his achievements in research and publications, an US based development organization, Bangladesh Development Research Center Inc. (BDRC) recognized him as one of the Top Bangladesh Development Researchers of the Millennium. His research areas include development economics, ecological economics, Islamic economics, sustainable development, agriculture and rural development, climate change impacts and adaptation, food security, tourism, poverty, microfinance, investment, and public-private partnership, etc.
