I am Irish and currently living in Cork, Ireland with my Congolese born wife Celine and our 3 kids. Like many Irish citizens I am forced to emigrate and strange as it may be my biggest opportunities are in DRC. Having visited twice,and being involved with the Congolese community for the past 12 years, I have no problem living there. Having weighed up the pros and cons, the scales are dipping in favour of Congo. We have decided to home school our kids for the first year anyway and have some ideas for business ventures to support ourselves financially. I am aware of the high cost of living in Kinshasa as an expat. I have a lot of experience and skills in running a business,which I hope to use in partnership with local contacts in Kinshasa.
