The mixture of modernity and tradition. Nairobi is a city where African culture and life is like fading off." Westernization" is more visible than in my region in West Africa. Why is it so? It%u2019s a good question but I don%u2019t know.
I sometimes describe Nairobi as they say in French " Un geant aux pieds d'argile" Big city but no infrastructure. Traffic is horrible. No good road to cope with the size of the city and the millions of cars imported every month. But this is not only Kenya. Big slums where the majority of the population live. " La bombe à retardement" Do Africans have the word %u2018planning%u2019 in their mother tongues or local languages or is it a notion imported by the former colonizers? That would be a good subject of study in sociolinguistics.
