I'm John Torrey, my wife Diane & I hail from Corpus Christi, Tx. We have a financial motivation to move for retirement. As we love the water and nature, Diane's family is from Puerto Rico, and I served a year in Thailand, a tropic atmosphere is very appealing to us. I have skills in Heavy Equipment operating, (bulldozers etc), truck driving, & welding. I also taught Jr. High social studies & science for 9 years. We were hoping one of these skills would be of value in that area. Diane & I love to sail. I'm currently in charge of the restoration of the three life-size replicas of the Columbus Ships in Corpus Christi.(www.ccbarcos.com) We are looking for a little better security , health care and life in a tropical setting. We may send some of our belongings by three shipping containers. This would include a sailboat, a truck and personal affects. I would like to then weld those containers(40'X8) together to fashion a home. Am I crazy to suggest such an idea? I think we have something to offer the community and are very keen on investigating the possibilities. I'm particularly interested in meeting other American Service Veterans.
