I lived in Ecuador for 15 years but have now moved back to the U.S. I still own a house in Quito that I am trying to sell.

So much to see and do. Modern and Old Styles mixed together all around the city.
I do need to be careful when I'm out to make sure I'm not the subject of a robbery. But now there are only very few places where I feel I would really be unsafe to go. (Mostly places out at night)

Bought a hotel on the beach, remodeled the hotel then lived there and managed the hotel for 5 years before putting it up for sale.
Very tropical with all of the coconut palms and fruit trees. Beaches are more private except for Carnaval and holidays.
The majority of the people treat americans different in their prices. They feel americans are rich therefore they should be obligated to pay higher prices. There are also more home and street robberies here than I've found in other parts of Ecuador
