I joined expat.com on 27 October 2012.
I live in The Hague area with my husband and my three children. I work as a consultant, coach and trainer for internationally living families, mainly accompanying partners at "Ute's Expat Lounge". ? I regularly organise talks and workshops in The Hague area.
I like the international atmosphere of The Hague. I love the beach, the city, the easy access to local groups and communities.
I had a research grant from the Swiss National Fonds for my personal research about a Florentine poet of the Fourteenth Century. I also collaborated on two italian projects (in Padova and Firenze).
My work, the cultural site of this city, the food (!) and people there were just amazing.
To earn your living there was very difficult and not so appealing on a long term.
I lived on and off in Paris during that time frame, living and studying also in Zurich...
Paris is... fantastique.
I've studied and worked in Zurich.
It is a very safe city for young women. It is quite expensive to live in, but all is very organised, clean and functional. I liked that the public transport is always reliable.
I felt that one must adapt to the expectations of locals. It is almost too perfect and the constant aim for perfection makes one feel "controlled"...
I grew up in Italy (two places near Varese), and left after graduation.
I have very fond memories about this area (Lombardy) and the place I grew up.
Nothing ;-)
