I am about to retire with very limited funds and am looking for a quiet peaceful existence as inexpensively as possible. I think that I would like to live among Ecuadoran people and will do my best to speak enough Spanish to at least acquire food before travelling to Ecuador LOL. Although I am sure that I will crave that touch of home and the sound of English, I fail to see the purpose to moving to a completely new environment in order to live exactly the same way I always have at home. I hope to be able to immerse myself in both the expat and local communities, if at all possible. I strongly believe that a house without a dog is not a home, so I hope to find a loveable mutt to share my life in Ecuador, therefore, veterinary care will be a necessary part of my needs. I will need to be able to have access to my Canadian pension funds in Ecuador. I will need affordable housing, preferably purchased mortgage-free with savings. I need to know everything about immigrating to Ecuador, before I take the plunge. Climate, Cost of living (property taxes etc.), Safety (particularly for a female on her own) etc. etc. Bring it on, I am a sponge waiting to absorb both the good and the bad. Thank you. Sarah
