I am currently living in South Africa, but my husband and I are looking into immigrating to Northern Ireland or the UK within the next couple of years. I have a British passport, but my husband is South African. We are looking at job prospects in Northern Ireland as it is a very worrying factor for us. I have spoken to a few employment agencies, but they come back to me saying that we have to be living there to get any kind of indication of where we would stand. My parents live in Templepatrick and I just love Northern Ireland everytime I go to visit. It feels like my home, even though I am not living there. Would love to speak to anyone who could share their experiences or opinions.
I joined expat.com on 10 January 2013.
I was first in England, Essex where I visited my sister. I then moved to Northern Ireland where my parents were and started working at the Hilton Hotel in Templepatrick.
I love the scenery, the people and the freedom there
The weather can be a bit of a downer sometimes, but as long as it is warm indoors I am happy.
Was schooled here from grade 1 to matric. I have completed certificates through a university which were done through my work place. We built and bought a house a year ago. It is a project still in progress, but it is rewarding. Our long term goal has always been to move to N.I.in the future, the question is how to make a success of it.
I like that we have a house, cars, jobs here where we are financially stable
I don't like the crime, living in fear, having to spend tons of money on security for our houses.
