I'm a communications consultant for the State Government here in Western Australia, and I work only long enough to save for my next trip. I have never been to South America and have always wanted to travel there, and after seeing the Dakar rally for the last two years I've decided Chile and Argentina are places I'd like to see. My partner and I are planning a trip in 2012/13. We plan to stay about three months and need to buy a car that we can take down to Patagonia and Tierra del Fuego, then up through Argentina, across the Andes and back to Santiago. Would love to hear from expats who can advise on buying (and later selling) a car and road-tripping in that part of the world!
