I have a very strong interest in pursuing a career in teaching. I have experience of working with university students and secondary school learners, as well as experience of teaching skills in activities outside of the traditional classroom; I have a diverse background which could benefit many pupils and I feel I have a lot to offer. I have previously taught English language to students aged 12-30 years. This was a lengthy task as many of the students struggled to adapt to a second language, however they succeeded in their attempts after persevering and in turn I was challenged to be creative, nurturing and most of all, patient. A few years ago whilst travelling abroad, I also taught English to high school and primary school students on a voluntary basis. Overseeing the difference of capabilities among my students proved tricky, but satisfying and challenging. I tailored activities to maintain the interest of the more experienced students without intimidating less skilled English speakers. More recently my past experience with teaching created an opportunity for me to work towards tutoring high school students in an attempt to get them geared up for college and university admission. I felt careful preparation of sessions allowed me to break down sometimes complicated concepts to straightforward examples that my young students could grasp and I made use of varying teaching methods such as acronyms, rhymes and charts or memory games to keep them interested and motivated throughout. At the present time my job in retail has allowed me to manage and coach staff and colleagues at various stores throughout the Yorkshire area. This has increased product sales and has given me the chance to further demonstrate my skills as a teacher. As well as working in my fulltime position I have been tutoring privately for the last 5 years on a part time basis. It is my ambition to join together my range of experience with my ability to be a considerate, enthusiastic, sharp teacher who will make a positive contribution to your school. I would welcome an interview and hope to hear from you at your earliest convenience. Thank you for your consideration. Yours Sincerely, Mr Itsham Riaz
