I am a mature, South African lady, who has lived in Wales for nearly 18 years. I could not live in that climate any longer, so moved to Spain in April 2013. In 4 months I have bought a car, a house, had a house full of visitors ten days after moving in, and am now ready to start integrating into the Alicante way of life. I primarily want to learn to speak Spanish, but would love to join an amateur dramatic society, attend the theatre/cinema, tour wine estates, dine out, get involved in charity work, attend literary festivals (like Edinburgh and The Hay Festival), listen to music and generally socialise. I have also heard that there is a South African community in Alicante. I would love to hear from some of them. Many thanks to anybody that takes the time to read this; and reply.
I joined expat.com on 08 February 2013.
I studied to become a post-compulsory tutor and taught young adults with mild to moderate special educational needs. I loved this job so much.
I made some wonderful friends in Wales, who I know will be friends for ever. I love the greenery wherever I look.
The weather!! So grey.
I was born here, went to school here, married here and had my children here.
Only once I left this amazing place, did I realise how lucky I had been to grow up here. My heart will always be in this wonderful city.
Leaving it!! The crime rate in S.A. is always a concern.
