Introduction
My husband and I are considering a move to Germany, as he has a good work opportunity. We moved from Ohio to Portland, OR in Sept. '08 and that, being my first ever move out of Ohio, was hard, taking some time to get settled. My concern has been missing family and friends, getting to see them enough. Also, we hope to adopt soon, and can we do that while living in Germany? What about the necessary CIS filings? I do want to support my husband, and this is a great opportunity for him. Idea of living abroad is interesting, but what about when that wears off? Interested to hear from others who have made the move.

Expat experience
Lived in rural Ohio until I was 18, and it was a very good, safe, beautiful place to grow up. Lots of farms, corn, beautiful summers and snowy winters. Moved to the southern Ohio for college, at Ohio University, it was much the same, great experience. Good people. Moved to Columbus (pop. 1M ) for the next 20 years or so, and that also was a good experience.
