We are coming from the Pocono Mountains of Pennsylvania. I am a retired boilermaker, and Jodi is a teacher. We are coming to stay from October through April to see if this will become a permanent placement for us.
I joined expat.com on 09 March 2013.
Medical very inexpensive, 1) trip to hospital for multiple x-rays of foot., 1) trip to lab for blood work, 3) trips to local doctor for treatment and advice for condition including two prescriptions, everything including travel (buss & taxi) roughly $65.00 - $70.00 US..
Don't get me wrong, for the most part everyone is pleasant and appeared trustworthy , we meet some WONDERFULL PEOPLE, but we were robed ,snorkel gear taken of 2nd story veranda that could not even be seen from the ground. The cops got the guy (local druggie bum) from surveillance video at hotel. I was present when they "interrogated" him (they lumped him up so bad, I felt sorry for him) then off to jail. They do not tolerate bad tourism press, tourism is how most natives survive in San Pedro. Beside that, the really annoying thing is the CONSTANT attempt to sell trinkets and craft items (souvenirs) that you just don't want (some are under the assumption all north Americans and Europeans are rich).
