am a single woman of color who retired from working for the United States government after 41 years of service and moved to Ecuador arriving Nov. 1, 2013 together with my 120 lb., 11 year old Cane Corso. I first conceived of this possibility for me in 2010, visited Ecuador to look it over in 2011, liked what I saw and planned to arrive in 2012, Those who would steal my dream were hard at work, but I prevailed and ultimately arrived in Puerto Lopez this past November. I chose Puerto Lopez because living here is real life! That's what I wanted. This life might not be for everyone for forever, but it is for me for right now.

Life is quiet, as I prefer and hoped it would be. I take Spanish lessons from a local school, and my teacher has helped me tremendously to gain insight into the people and the wayd of Ecuadorian culture in this village.
I live right on the edge of the ocean and it costs nearly nothing to live here
The only thing I could maybe complain about is there us no movie theatre.
