Introduction

I have obtained my B.E. degree in Production Engineering from the Department of Production Engineering, Jadavpur University, Kolkata in 2002. Then I joined Department of Materials and Metallurgical Engineering, Jadavpur University, Kolkata for M. Tech. Just after completion of M. Tech. in 2005, I joined as a research fellow in Central Glass and Ceramic Research Institute, Kolkata (Nov 2004 to July 2005). After that I joined in IIT Kanpur as PhD Scholar and I have completed my Ph.D. thesis titled Modeling of Microwave Heating of Particulate Metals and its Application in Sintering of Tungsten-Based Alloys, under the supervision of Professor Anish Upadhyaya, Department of Materials Science and Engineering, IIT Kanpur in the month of April 2010. Currently I am working as a scientist in NTPC Ltd., Noida. I am working on the different failure aspects of boiler tubes and other thermal power plant component. I have been working in the area of manufacturing, materials processing and characterization for last ten years. During the course of my PhD I have worked almost one year as visiting research scholar in Prof. Dinesh Agrawal's lab at Pennsylvania State University, USA. I have been awarded Shunsaku Katoh Award for most significant contributions to scientific research in the field of Microwave and RF power at the 1st Global Congress on Microwave Energy Applications (GCEMA 2008), August 2008, Japan. I was also selected as one of the two participants from Indian Institute of Technology Kanpur for the SAARC-JENESYS 2009 Program by the Japanese Government. As a part of it, I visited Japan for two weeks. I have about 18 papers to my credit published in various international journals and in conference proceedings. My research experience includes Microwave Sintering of Metallic Material, Mechanical Testing of P/M Parts, Non-Ferrous Powder Metallurgy, Liquid-Phase Sintering, and Characterization Techniques such as SEM/OIM/EBSD, XRD, Optical Microscopy, Dilatometery and Conventional Ultrasonic Method. I am very much interested teaching. I am highly motivated and committed to carry out application based research in any challenging area.

I joined expat.com on 08 July 2013.
