Association PILS

Founded in 1996, PILS is the main NGO entirely dedicated to the fight against HIV & AIDS in Mauritius and Rodrigues. PILS was founded in reaction to the lack of any effective organisation to combat the epidemic and the general denial of the existence of HIV/AIDS in Mauritius. PILS’ vision is a country where adequate access to education and prevention concerning HIV & AIDS is a right and reality for all. A country where People Living with HIV (PLWH) lead healthy and fulfilled lives, free from prejudice and discrimination, with proper care, treatment support and social integration. PILS mission is to minimize the impact of HIV/AIDS in Mauritius and Rodrigues through: 1. Preventing, informing and communicating on HIV/AIDS to prevent new infections and to reduce stigma and discrimination associated with HIV/AIDS. 2. Improving the quality of life of People Living with HIV (PLWH) by providing them with care and support services and empowering them so that they can fully participate in the social and economic life of the country. 3. Leading public and political support for PLWHA and HIV/AIDS related issues through advocacy.
