Load theft !!!!!

Post new topic

GoDees

Has anyone had load used (Globe) when data roaming is not on and you are connected to home internet. 3 time the other night, a notice appeared on my mobile screen saying l had connected to the internet. Checked each time and data roaming off, still connected to home jnternet by wifi. Each time money deducted from my load. Anyone experienced this ? Where they able to resolve/fix problem or is this just a way to profit with no accountability ?

I await replies

That sounds rather peculiar.  I've never heard of this sort issue before. I'm on Smart for my phone plan.  Overall, never had any sort of issues. Not like this anyway.

Good luck. I hope you may have it resolved in some way soon..

My phone is dual sim Smart/Globe, it has only happened on the Globe account.

Thank you for the response.

@GoDees

Thank you for sharing.

You're welcome, as well!

I have some friends who work at Globe (specifically in tech/mobile support Department.) It just dawned on me a little earlier.

I can ask if this issue is something common and if they are familiar with it.

Let me know.

  • @GoDees That is not a Globe problem, it is a phone and home internet problem dropping out intermittently. Globe only send data when your phone is seeking an IP address from an available server. They have no control over the requests they recivecfrom your phone when it requests an IP. With some older android phones you have to turn off data completely if you want to use only wifi. I hate to be in a position to defend Globe because I have had a lot of problems with their inefficiencies, policies and cust service like many other expats.

My load goes away quickly if I leave "Cellular" enabled. I have an iPhone 10 (wife's hand me down) and my wife has an iPhone 11 and it doesn't seem to happen to her if Cellular is enabled. Even if I turn off all the items in the Cellular list I still lose load quickly and I get the pop up messages counting down my load. My solution is to disable Cellular unless I need it, which is very seldom, and there is no more phantom load loss. When the wife's new phone arrives I will have her iPhone 11 so I'm not spending time and effort trying to figure out what's up with my phone. Too many settings.

Both phones are Globe and I would really like to change to Smart. Globe doesn't work inside the house here in the province. If I can figure out how to change to Smart and keep my number I will do it in a heartbeat. I've called Globe to complain about the service and to inquire about the procedure to change carriers but all I get is some rhetoric about upgrades in my area and it will all be okie dokie sooner than later.

@Moon Dog Looking at this from another angle, I obtained a Globe postpaid number a few years ago so I never run into those problems with load since cellular access is unlimited to landlines and globe, smart and the rest. For data, if you run out of the 5Gb they give you, you must intentionally buy more according to the plan, they do not steal from any prepaid load, which you cannot even get in these plans. Of course, signal strength will be the same although smart has similar plans. Too bad apple does not allow double sim cards so at least you can call out from inside the house even if no one knows your number to call in.

@danfinn I thought about a prepaid plan but turns out I don't use the phone enough to justify it. A P300 load will last me about 3 months and I buy the load using Xoom.

The phone used to work fine inside the house but now I either have to go to a certain window or go outside. Sometimes even if I get full bars there is an E and I'm not sure what that means. I know Smart WiFi works better on the island because I've tried both. The locals say Smart phone service is better here also.

@danfinn

Thanks @danfinn, I was not sure it was just me or it happens to other people. My phone has both Smart and Globe sims but it is only the Globe that uses load.

It is a Samsung A30s, so how do l disable data ?

Looking forward to all responses.

That happens a lot to me and my friends. We are Globe users. Since then, I've never recharged my load anymore. For my internet access, I will buy the data instead.

@GoDees i pay my globe postpaid and I load my prepaid data with MAYA. I also pay PLDT internet, water and electric using MAYA. I transfer online direct from my US checking using Remitly to MAYA. Much  is now online even in the.provinces. No more standing in line to pay. GCASH has similar conveniences but so fat I prefer MAYA.
