Travel within EU before getting the Residence Permit card

Hi all,

I am sorry if this question has been asked before. I have arrived in Brussels a week ago on Family Reunification visa. I was wondering if I am eligible to travel to France for a week for holiday?

My visa says ‘Belgium’ and not Schengen. My residence permit work is going on and it might take several weeks before I get that card but I wanted to travel before that. I haven’t got clear answers from anywhere yet. Any idea?

Thank you.

There is no visa check and there is no borders between Europe countries you can go as much as you want between Europe countries

If you have D visa is valid for 90 days. You can travel within this period of time and then you need the residence permit. Make sure to carry the passport with you always.
