Weather in July and August

Post new topic

dwightman2176

Hello. What’s the weather like in Phuket in July and August? Is it significantly worse than mainland resorts such as Hua Hin, which averages around 100mm per month in August, compared to 300mm in Phuket (according to some sites I’ve seen)

Thanks

David

Hello dwightman2176,

Welcome to Expat.com 1f601.svg

Thank you for asking your questions here.

Are you planning on travelling to Phuket around July and August? Maybe even relocating there?

Cheers,

Cheryl

Yes it rains more in Phuket in July/August - it is very hot and humid then.

Not so hot and humid in Hua Hin then - but still hot and humid.

December to March is best timne of the year - hot but not so hot and less rain (thus less humid).

2 seasons in Thailand mid and south - hot and sometimes humid, and very hot and often humid.

North Thailand is where it is not so humid - and less hot December to March (Chiang Mai).

Hi @Cheryl, thanks for replying.

We’re considering both! next year will just be a vacation but in the next 2-3 years we will be looking at  relocating. Children/grand children would likely visit in the UK since holiday season so we’d rather not be somewhere that is going to rain for most of the time they are with us.

@AussieBob99 in August, does it rain lots for short periods and then dry up, like a lot of Thailand, or does it rain for prolonged periods?

@dwightman2176 Most of the times, rains for short periods and dries up, but there could be some days that it comes down for an hour or so!
