EP Rejection

My EPass got rejected on the 10th of Dec 2022, after 12 days when my company first applied for me.

The reason for rejection was that there wasn’t a job advertisement posted for 14 days for jobsdb. Now, my company has posted the advertisement and it’s been 14 days so they will try again.

May I know the chances of it getting rejected or would it be a definite pass as we have directly addressed the rejection reason?

Thank you.

Please take some time to read about the processing steps in related forum posts: An application is rejected as soon as the first reason is found - and the processing stops. After you address it, the subsequent steps are performed, which can of course lead to rejection for other reasons.

To avoid this, your employer could try to contact the processing officer for a detailed discussion before appealing (they do sometimes, but not always, disclose more). An experienced HR department also knows what the potential pitfalls are.

Thank you beppi. It’s been rejected again for the 2nd time, after posting on jobsdb. We waited 2 weeks and appealed on the 30th Dec and it’s rejected today on 12th January.

Any advice on the 2nd appeal? Can I request to visit MOM with my HR? My HR is relatively not experienced. Thank you.

May I know the status of your EP application?

@dorisisdoris Hi Doris, thank you for asking. The first appeal was rejected and now, my HR has yet to give me an answer on the reason for rejection. They said they were looking into it and will revert back in the new few days. I am trying to see how I can heighten my chances of approval for the 2nd and last appeal. If not we need to start a brand new second application all over again.

Are you facing a similar situation?

@Victoria A. Chan I strongly suggest your HR talk to the processing officer at MoM before lodging the 2nd appeal.

Another EP application for the same job is not possible, so they'd have to create a new job and go through the Jobsdb posting again (and preferentially hire any applicant there), before they are allowed to consider giving it to you. Instead, I'd suggest you look for another job with a company more experienced in hiring foreigners.

Hi Victoria

My EP application was placed early January 2023, while it’s been on pending since then while I were requested to provide additional document of my cv, so my case is also facing with additional uncertainties.

I’ve also talked with a few applicants, who faced with similar document request, it seems they face with unexpected lengthier pending status than usual cases .

hopefully our cases both can get sorted out properly.
