I strongly suggest an induction hob.

I have not been able to find an all in one with induction on the island.

Get your kitchen installer to make a cabinet for the hob and oven.

@Expat Ash Thanks - not actually sure what an induction hob is - googling it as we speak & sounds like a great idea.

Induction hobs are very safe. However, if you are a serious cook they have limited use and the heat cannot be controlled instantaneously (like a gas fire).  Also, they need compatible pots and pans.

@Tookays I agree, the compatible pots is not to be ignored. If all your pots and pans are not compatible then the hidden cost will be a shock. As an amateur cook I can tell you that good induction pots on a decent hob are more responsive than gas. A real concern is that you don’t have infinite adjustment as you might on a good gas hob, so you can set them heat from 1 to 7 or 8. On my hob 2.5 would be great but does not exist.

Have to do some more research So, what are compatible pots - I have all stainless steel, cast iron & glass/ceramic. Or do you mean I have to buy special pots for the hob - how will I know lol?

If a magnet sticks to the bottom of your pan , then it is good for induction hob. Your cast iron pan will work but the stainless steel won't.

As above, get a magnet and check. Ceramic pots wil not work. And the pots should have a flat base too.

@shirley1421971 You will know by reading the labels on the pans, there's a special symbol for induction and the packaging itself will usually say "for induction". I have the induction hob and it's great, but I don't have an oven (yet)

I do also have an air fryer which is super but I'm just getting started with it.
