Hi all.
My name is Jared. I'm a US citizen living in California, and I would like to retire in Spain about 12 years from now. In the meantime I intend to explore much more of the country and do what I can to prepare myself for that retirement goal
Hey there,
Im Jake, 31 from the UK. I lived in Madrid for a year or so between 2012-2013 (glorious pre-Brexit days) and have always wanted to return to settle down long term. I am a high level Spanish speaker (my degree was in Spanish) and I have an aunt and uncle that already live in Alicante.
My wife and I have been looking into the process of moving abroad with our young daughter. We are open to general location but somewhere near the family would be nice. I work in Advertising Operations currently but have always been open to a career change as I feel my skills are fairly transposable, my wife is a Primary school teacher which she loves doing.
If anyone has any recommendations or experiences that might help us realise our dream, I would fully appreciate it

Interesting. I was born in Germany from Lithuanian, Danish, French, and Catalonian grandparents, living in Spain for the last 60 years. From 57 German dialects I speak 5, French, Portuguese, Russian, English (with a "terrible American accent") and of course Spanish. From België I remember some nice days in Vilvoorde enjoying the local beers - terrific and distant from German beers, not to say Spanish. I wonder what is it like to have patriotic feelings as I do not have any. My birth certificate says "Deutsches Reich", school certificates say "Deutsche Demokratische Republik" and my passport says "Bundesrepublik Deutschland", sorry but I encounter considerable dificulties to identify with any of the three.
Tenerife is a nice place, I like the Orotava Valley. Schould you go there don't miss out a place called "El Monasterio" close to La Montañeta. Enjoy.

hello,
did you find any nurse vacancies in spain?
I am a nurse in the UK. We are potentially looking to move near puerto real, so a nursing post would be great for me.
thanks,
Danielle

hello i am looking to
move to Valencia and wondering if you can help?
Hello everyone,
Welcome on board !
Thank you all for your introductions on the New Members thread.
@Marceltribble, I would suggest that you through the Living in Spain guide for expats to gather as much info as possible and open a new thread on the Valencia forum while providing more details (purpose of moving : work, retirement, business creation) on your Expat project so that members can guide you.
All the best
