Ask Google

Larry Fisher

probably highly dependent on location and destination, as well as lead time. But I like EVA from west coast USA.

bought tickets last week for $859 Manila to Seattle round trip in July

Asiana Airlines.  Best price I could find, also one of the quickest only 1 1/2 hour layover in ICN

Google "cheap Flights" Look down about half a page and you will see a flights departure and destination form. Push Calander forward a month or two for better pricing. The calendar date grid will list a price for each day of the month, Find the two cheapest days for depart and return. Then pick you airline choice based on cost and flight time etc...

That's a good deal especially given only the one stopover and short layover timings. Interestingly if you reversed the route starting from Seattle the price goes up significantly.

Be careful with Asiana/ KAL - not a very good record with safety.

Do you have details, or are yiu referring to the plane that was shot down many years ago?

Book 6 to 8 weeks in advance be flexible with your travel dates and sign up for alerts where you will be informed of any price changes. I would also consider splitting the journey. I found once that if I was travelling to Manila, it was cheaper to book separate flights. Return from UK to Bangkok then a return with Cebu Pacific from Bangkok to Manila.

tammas2000

Skyscanner is the best by far from/to UK. It's also MUCH cheaper to fly from/to Amsterdam in almost any long haul flights. Paris can also be great. Add a cheap return from UK to Schipol/Paris and much better value.

I see business class from Paris to Manila is around £2,000 with Gulf. Makes a helluva difference if you're old lol!

If I recall Cherryanne used KLM via Amsterdam on his last trip. He is now known as the 'layover king' ha ha ;)

I travelled by Emirates once from Amsterdam, the last flight was Gulf. It's such a huge hub that the prices are hard to beat. Mind you, I'm a smoker, so I don't mind breaks and waits whilst I can eat, drink Champagne and the odd beer and have a puff. Breaks the monotony lol.

Once on the plane it's sleepy time lay flat bed, or, if Emirates, through to the bar in the A380, then bed :-)

not known by manny but i used it and found most of the times there the cheapest flights ,also very flexibol in surch of dates and airports ,

ITA

Matrix Airfare

you kan surch 2 months around a date

you can not book on this site most of the times but if you copy the intinary and use those to book with a travel agency or air compagnie directly one gets a very good deal example round trip Davao -Brussels 63 125 peso with Emirates

i cal that a good deal for a 30 day trip , as i see prices on other sites

Veery true, I flew from Leeds/Bradford via Amsterdam. Stopped off in HCMC on the way back then HCMC to Bangkok, on to Paris and then Amsterdam and back to Leeds/Bradford. Had to be accommodated on the outskirts of Paris though due to the flight back from HCMC being late and missing my onward connection to Amsterdam.

If I may add an important footnote to this thread regarding using airline online booking site third parties. In today's London Times an exposé by the UK's number 1 trusted consumer rights champion 'Which'.

It turns our that many of these booking sites are charging for 'add-ons' such as seat and baggage fees which end up costing the traveller more than if you book direct with the airline. Sometimes the airline owns the third party booking site: an example being British Airways & Opodo.

I've gone on record before stating that you are better off booking direct with the airline for a number of reasons. The above two you can add to the list.

Cherryann01

Lotus Eater - Agreed, always best to book directly with the airline if you can. I will say though that I booked my upcoming trip to Thailand and Vietnam using a third party. I checked on Kayak and Skyscanner first and flying from my local airport (Leeds/Bradford) involved multiple flights with various airlines such as Ryanair and Air Lingus. These I knew would result in a considerable mark up in price after adding baggage fees. You will know that Ryan Air charges for everything, they once considered charging for using the toilet.

So I booked through Skyscanner using a third party (Carlton Leisure) flying from Manchester with Emirates and Viet Airways and the site actually showed me that all baggage fees were included in the price and gave me the baggage allowance also.

Asking here and poking around the net it is apparent that 3rd party sites are iffy.  Perfectly fine if nothing goes wrong but can be a sheet show if there are issues.  I booked directly with EVA air FLL to LAX then TPE spending the night in TPE and on to CEB in the morning. Negligible difference in price between online sites and airline. Except one site which was a couple hundred cheaper, you have to call them, they have multiple complaints about raising prices, no customer service on and on.  Can't remember name?

Back in the good old days there were little flight interruptions and rescheduling, not these days.  At times I got an entire row to myself, I have not seen an empty seat on a plane in a looong time!

@Prince James

i think the on line company you’re referring to could be ASAP, i never trust them and their prices are always high.  i have fount that if you book 40 days in advance you will not find a better price than cheapo.  If you fly on Tuesdays its pricing is the cheapest. we always use them. tried all the other cheap flight sites and none compare. im not a employee or anything just a consumer that flies to philippines every now and then.

Prince James

@Gregsdigitalpics   I took a look, you are correct it was     ASAP  tickets,  when 50 company's are a $1000 and one is $750 the alarm bells go off!   Looking at reviews, just loaded with complaints.  No thanks.
