UK Resident Requirements for Working 3 Months Remotely in Germany

Post new topic

ChrisFras

Hi everyone

I live in the UK (British citizen) and I'm hoping to work remotely in Germany for ~3 months this year.

I have seen conflicting reports over visa requirements- some say nothing is required other than telling your employer, others a short stay, others a freelance visa.

Could someone clarify what Visa requirements there are for up to 3 months remote working in Germany?

What are the requirements for a period of 3 - 6 months?

Any information/advice would be great, thanks!

A short stay visa (incl. the one you may automatically get on entry) allows staying here for 89 days, but NOT working - and that means any paid work.

A freelancer visa and setting up a self-employment business here is not worth it for such a short duration. You may read more about it in related forum discussions.

In other words: Better forget this plan, it is not legally possible (since Brexit)!

Understood, thanks for your answer. In your opinion how risky is it to go on a tourist visa and still work from Germany?

@ChrisFras Penalties are stiff - and discussing illegal acts is disallowed on this forum, so please stop mentioning it here!
