Did you notice new medical condition after moving to the Philippines?

Jackson4

My wife and I are visiting the Philippines for 2 weeks. We're from the midwest so I had opted to have seafood like shrimps, clams, squid and ocean fish. Mostly grilled. Towards the second week I noticed allergy symptoms showing up. It is a bummer since I love seafood. What's your experience and how did you handle it?

I don't have that problem Jackson as I have a cast iron gut apparently but if we have too much seafood Ben breaks out in a rash so we limit what we eat in Seafood, we have the same problem with chicken and if the cuts have skin he takes that off and I most times eat, better these days as we learnt.

Medical conditions so far none, same as Australia.

I have asthma which is normally practically nonexistent in the US west coast or southwest. In the Philippines it is triggered by the constant burning of organic materials in the provincial areas, even fairly close in, like in Valencia, near Dumaguete. It seems Filipinos love to rake up some leaves and then set fire to it. Constantly.

Do not come here if you have asthma, unless you plan to live in an urban area. Of course then you have the air pollution, but I had no real issues before in Cebu City for several years, but we did live above the city in Busay, where the air quality was okay. Dumaguete proper also seems okay.

I have crook knees and lower back for years, many operations in Australia over the last 30 years but now living here in a warmer climate it's not so bad except at night with the A/C on in the B/R set at 26/7 degrees I some times have pain in my knees, I do take fish oil and Glucosamine every other day and if I forget I pay for it.

The warmer climate here has helped with my aches and pains.

Cheers, Steve.
