Can I work?

Post new topic

Gezzar

I'm an Australian citizen and have just renewed my visa for another six months. I live in Ormoc. I am considering teaching English as a second language online. If I get paid is this allowed? Will it affect my visa?

@Gezzar it sounds like you're on a visitor visa. Best to check with the BI depending on your visa type.https://immigration.gov.ph/services/special-permits/provisional-work-permit

Thanks for the response , Are you aware the job position is located in the UK?

@larrygodsonfamily This is the Philippines / Visa forum asking "Can I work". If you mean you are located in the Philippines but the company is based in UK again best to contact the BI based on your visa type. If you're not located in the Philippines you might ask in a UK forum.

You will be teaching in an online capacity. so yes, you can.

Though it is nice to make sure such bases are covered, Your Visa does not necessarily have any regard for the work you do online.

"Gezzar got me thinking"

Over time the question of working while in the Philippines has come up. Teaching English on various posts has come up. There are approximately 600,000 Americans in the Philippines and approximately 14 million Filipinos speak discernible English.

There is a tremendous pool of possible English teachers with some on this Forum suggesting this is a viable pursuit?

Really?

They speak English in the Philippines not "Aussie.. "
