You can search instead in Heliopolis or Nasr City.

@Jamiechua You can certainly find 1 bedroom apartments with this budget! but you won't find those deals in EXPAT com where people who rents or serve as real estate agents want you to spend way more than that. I mean, the average (for English speaking Egyptians) salary here is around 200 dollars a month. It is ridiculous to think you can not find an apartment within the range of a full month salary.

Certainly, certain areas of Cairo are more expensive, not counting that if you're a foreigner they will want to charge you more because you are paid in dollars but there are many properties of reasonable price if you have a local to look for those opportunities in your behalf. Also depends on what commodities you want and if you want or not internet access, doorman, HOT water (many people do not have heaters or they may charge you for electricity extra).

I have an unfurnished apartment Madinet Nasr for this price close to all shop areas and malls. It is 2 bedrooms in the 4th floor but no elevators.
