To rent an apartment in Santo Domingo

Post new topic

scs4834

Hello everyone, I decided that I would rent an apartment or house in Santo Domingo este. I visit usually three times a year for at least three weeks. I have no problem with a rental agreement for one year. The process is daunting, I have spoken to several real estate agents, but the prices keep going up. I cannot see how a two bedroom apartment would cost as much as my apartment here in Sacramento California. Just need a little help to get some honest answers, pricing and… help. Thank you 😊

In SD East there are plenty of decent apartments for rent. From 20.000 pesos, (+/- 400 USD) sometimes less. 2 or 3 BDR, even newly build.

Search Corotos.com.do and MercadoLibre.com.do

Prices are public, so no scam.

CHRISTOPHER DAVID56

@Guineo Verde good information just ensure in any area you are not stuck back in a Barrio off the beatin path for those prices, ie 20k Peso, and it includes all your appliances in the kitchen, do you buy your own propane, back up power of some type, etc....

Also, keep in mind the electric bill as it's very expensive running air-conditioning , etc these are all factors

planner

Absolutely critical you know exactly where apt is and have someone look at it for you to ensure it is what you think it is.

I am not a realtor or a lawyer and happy to help you out.

@scs4834 You're getting the inflated gringo price. Also depends on where in Santo Domingo. Places out by Piantini will cost more. Since you're not here permanently yet, just rent a furnished AIRBNB whenever you come, less headache and you're not confined to one location. Why pay 12 months rent for a place that you will only use 3 times for the year. Makes no sense unless the plan is to have your girlfriend live there. In that case let her do the legwork and get the Dominican price then you step in with the funds. You'd be surprise at what Dominicans are paying for their nice apartments and houses.

@CHRISTOPHER DAVID56 I'm here looking to make the move to DR. Will be here for 4 months. Would appreciate a link to your housing connection. Thanks. Not sure yet how to DM in here.

In the middle of capital or better yet not on the outskirts

planner

Ok. Do you want furnished or unfurnished? Long term? How many bedrooms?

planner

I will check with the realtor I use for rentals and see if he has anything.

Realtors here will only show you their listings!

Once at the office I will post some rental sites that work in the capital!

Im getting divorced and would like to find a 1BR furnished apartment in Santa Domingo for around 5-600 dollars per month in a good neighborhood, is this possible?

planner

Your budget is decent and you can get something in a decent neighborhood!

@gtfoh

How much can i expect to pay for a 1BR furnished apartment in a nice are w easy beach access, 10-15 minute walk?

Guineo Verde

This thread being "To rent an apartment in Santo Domingo", we have to stress there is no beach in Santo Domingo. The closest one is Boca Chica which I personally do not recommend.

As you wrote privately to me, I will respond here. Your budget you mentioned is far enough for single a one bedroom apartment.

planner

Absolutely correct there is no beach in Santo Domingo.

I know its late to response, but I would like to share my knoweldge in Santo Domingo,

now, if you would like to find elegant single bed apartment yet around USD 1000 then its gazque and near by except 27 de febraro (as I don't recommend it), you will add raughly usd 300 per bedroom, for example 2bedroomd would 1300 and so on.

if you want something resonable (economic) yet easy access and no trafic jams then Jacobo Majluta, there many residencial area in it but find one that is close to the main streen Jacobo Majluta, prices like usd 300 -500 for single bedroom, I would recommend Colinas del Arroyo II near colinas center tho.

hope that helps tho1f60e.svg
