Anyone have any information on shipping prescription medications from the US to DR? Or how I can ship boxes of food and clothes to DR and where to pick up in either the Santo Domingo or Sosua area?

As long as it's not a controlled substance, you should be fine! Search the forum for mail forwarders/freight forwarders for information on different companies. You should have a number of options there in Sosua. Set up an account, get an address in Florida, and have whatever you need shipped there. It will then be sent to the local branch office in Sosua.

@drlover1962 agree with controlled comment.

Normally, if it is (RX) being shipped directly from the pharmacy, with RX papers and not controlled it should pass customs. You need to make sure when you sign up with a shipper that DR customs have you registered.

Food:

Fruits,  frozen meats, fresh vegetables will not pass DR customs. It should be in its original sealed packaging.

You can also get many American food here in the DR may be a slightly higher price since it's imported

I think there is a Price SMART on the north coast but also in Santo Domingo with many American items and food

Just remember you are paying by weight to ship everything here. So, would research where you can purchase here in the DR first that you like.

Good luck!

I moderate the English forum for DR.  I attempt to keep us on track honey.  All good!

@CHRISTOPHER DAVID56 I get a food allowance with my insurance, free money so I would technically just be paying for the shipping and clearance costs. I have to use it or lose it.

Many retired here also have that benefit now.

I would just research via the DR customs website for current restrictions and many Google answers.

FWIW a controlled drug prescription of mine made it through without issues. I simply had it sent to my package reshipper and it made it to me a few days later.

Note though that this is one guy one bottle one-time result. All it tells us is that you may be able to have your controlled drug prescription sent to you.

To me, it makes sense. There are several reports of people going trough Aduana at the airport with controlled drugs and there being no issue as long as they were in a labeled prescription bottle.

@crabelramble sounds good
