So I imported my motorcycle in Jan 2023 and customs was all completed. They said that I will recv a letter with details on how to re-register in due course and it could take a while as it need to go thru Nicosia. Well nothing has been recvd and customs in Paphos are not able to help.

Does anyone know if this is the correct procedure or should I do something more as I do not like to wait especially as the 90 day customs relief period has already been extended once and I have been told if I do not get the registration change I might have to pay duty and VAT. At the moment customs said as this was part of my re-location property from the UK it is exempt from import duty and VAT like my other possessions.

If there is a company that deals with this then I might need to engage them to finalise this.

I attended the DOT today and after the staff checking my documents and the physical motorcycle I was thinking it was all going well but then they could not complete this process. They had previously said all I needed was the customs temporary import form (TIS C104), V5, insurance, shipping co delivery note, 2 x 2 euro stamps and proof of address to complete registration. Well now transpires that customs need to complete the clearance and move from temp import to permanent.  Given the back log they have I will need to continue to get extensions to the 90 days until they get to my file. Could take another 3-5 months making a total of 10 months!

I would stress that the extensions are very important and missing one means a fine and the possibility of having to pay VAT and import duty on the total value. Each extension is hand written on the reverse of the temp import form TIS C104. This needs to be kept with the vehicle as the police will need this if stopped. If the TIS c104 has expired the police might impound the vehicle.

@phildraper OMG .. it's a lengthy drawn out process .  .what would be your advice to anyone thinking of doing the same

phildraper

I would not put any one off the idea just be ready for a painful drawn out process just like everything is in Cyprus lol

A professional who deals with this all the time would help but they cannot make customs process your application any faster I guess or can they?

@phildraper I think most things can be achieved with a stack of brown envelopes.lol
