I'm very sorry, but I felt sure that I got the job. Unfortunately I got the message today, that I did not. I hope for all of you to have a very good time in Riyadh. Maybe one day I will be there too.

Sencerely,

Hi there all you ladies. I will be leaving for Riyadh early January, does anyone know what the apartments for teachers that will be working at King Saud Uni are like? I am new to all this and I must admit I am a bit anxious about the move . Any tips about anything? Thanks

hello there all u ladies i will probably be flying out to Riyadh today, I'm still in Bahrain waiting for visa. Can anyone give me an update. Do i wear the abaya as soon as i get onto plane or when i land. Any info will be appreciated. Thanks

grazyna

Hello Pegexpat,
I came to KSA Jubail 2 months ago and I travel a lot lately. There is more and more westerns coming to KSA and you can see women without abaya at the airport - I wasn't the only one uncovered,
regards
Grazyna

pegexpat

really . thank you so much for your prompt reply. What's it like there in general i mean especially for single women there coz i know i'm going to be totally alone there in the beginning just me and my laptop

grazyna

Are you going to work? if, yes - you will be o.k., otherwise your laptop will be your only company. Woman walking on streets alone is unusual, after few attempts you will give it up. Talking to stranger (man) is not allowed

pegexpat

yes i am going to be working at KS University.

Thank you

grazyna

You will be o.k. then. One more advice - it is better to live in the compund, they have quite normal live there and it depends also on the level of compound - the better ones have almost everything: shops, gyms, cafeterias and of course you have a chance to make friends, but mostly couples live there

pegexpat

unfortunately i won't be living in the compound . The company that hired me has already got an apartment for me with other expats opposite granada mall

grazyna

The good thing is that you will live close to the mall (big malls have one or more coffee shops), you'll have then opportunity to go there by yourself and meet people. There is always a lots of single women there.

Alliecat

Granada Mall is, in my opinion, the best in Riyadh--a good variety of shops and businesses (the guys in the Mobily store who trouble-shoot problems are the BEST).

However, it's way across town from KSU and traffic here during 'rush hour,' morning and evening, can be a mess these days!

Best of luck :)

anthi giann

Hello to you all!
My name is Anthi, and i'm thinking of moving to Riyadh to work.
But i would like to know first how it s life for women there. Could you help me please?
Thank you!

pegexpat

Hi Anthi

Well i personally can't give u much info yet because i arrived in Riyadh yesterday, so at the moment i am actually waiting for the company to take me to the flat.Basically if u wear your abaya you'll be fine and u walk around in groups of women. That's all i can provide u with at this point.

pegexpat

I've just come from Greece too, originally from Australia but have lived in Greece for many years. Where will u be working?

anthi giann

At the KSU, like you!
I've sent you a message.

pegexpat

oh ok i get them a little delayed. so at this point i went to bahrain first i stayed there for 2 days until i got my visa then i came here yesterday and they told me tomorrow they will take me to the flat

anthi giann

the KSU find the appartment for you?
and the interview was on Skype, where you couldn't see them
but they could?

pegexpat

ksu finds the apartment.my interview was on skype no they couldnt see you

Ackeles

interesting thread :p

Bravo ladies!

Alliecat

Jeeze, you don't have to walk around in 'groups of women.'  I go out by myself all the time!

welcome sara...please call me for any assistance 0591027188

LoopyLou87

Same here Alliecat ... It's perfectly safe to go out alone however calling random people from a web site (manzoorTanoli) may have a different out come for you ...

Good luck with your new jobs guys, and make the most of Riyadh.

sunnyroe

I arrived in country late at night without an Abaya and no one took any notice. So long as you are dressed modestly. But if you go out then you must wear one.
