Still working on the car re-registration but moving on now the DoT documents have been registered on their system. So far 5 visits to see Mr George there and 5 months!

Next thing is I just need is a swap of UK driving license over to Cypriot.

Anyone know the process for this and if I will need to taker a Cypriot driving test? Does this need to be completed within a specific timescale?

@phildraper hi. When I exchanged my UK Driving licence for a Cypriot one I just had to apply for a Cypriot Licence under the section ‘exchange foreign Licence, ‘, send my Uk Licence to the required address. They issued me with a Cypriot licence and they returned my UK licence to the Uk. Couple of years ago though. All done through the mot website.

Are all Brits now using Cypriot Driving licence or is the UK still in common usage here?  I know that Brits are no longer officially allowed to use the Uk licence but wondered if the authorities are policing this.

@phildraper when I imported my UK registered car to Cyprus through the  Limassol Port. I contacted an agent ( you need one as part of the procedure is done online and the agents are the only ones with access to the site :-(. ) Pop into the New Port office, with the agent, do the paperwork, take the car to the MOT office in Polimedia, get the car checked both for MOT and car details, , get the paperwork and the new Registration Number,  pop to an official supplier of number plates, attach it to the car. Done deal 4 hours of inconvenience and a couple of hundred Euro!  :-).  Happy Bunny.

They usually allow 6 months on a non EU licence . Prior to brexit they allowed the licence to be valid until it's expiry of the photograph date at part 4b I think.

Now it needs to be changed to a Cyprus one... The process is a pain in the backside... Honestly get in touch with Tony or Peter in Paphos they can do it all far easier and less hassle...for a fee.. As far as I am aware the process hasn't changed and must be done at the transport dept for first changes and you can spend hours sitting waiting take a book some ways and drinks.. if time is important to you then it's worth it weight in gold

I will hunt out the details
