That time of year again, will you be watching although Hungary isn't in it?

@SimCityAT

I think Hungary pulled out several times citing the expense as being unreasonable.

It might be because it's so ultra-camp, their heads would implode at the thought of those sequins, glitter and glam makeup.

But there are so many other countries competing, it's no great loss for HU one hit wonders.

We'll be watching the UK BBC version via VPN.  20h BST, 21h CET.

It's Ukraine's show really.  I hope they do well in it but others are favourites to win. Sweden in fact.  Could this be another Abba moment?

It's Eurovision week! (For the benefit of Americans who know nothing of Eurovision, simply imagine everyone who's ever claimed they were abducted by aliens, at a 70s themed gay disco, tripping.)

Exactly!

That's just bonkers but what a great concept!

What they were smoking when they dreamt that up, who knows?!

It ain't gonna win but we should all be very grateful they participated.

SimCityAT

I actually quite liked Israel

I better say I like Austria

OK and the UK

Not that fussed about who wins, it will entertaining for tonight.

I said when I was watching both semi finales they were handing out some hard drugs.

SimCityAT

Oh it's the first time it's being shown in America on TV and they can vote, in fact, the world can vote in it, so the results should be interesting.

They really dragged out that voting.

I was quite disappointed Australia weren't further up the ranks. And Germany.  But I'm into that kind of music.

My best country jury front man prize has to go to Iceland.  WTF?

As for Sweden, Loreen's a powerful perfomer but there were notable others.  Israel's performance was tightly delivered.  Some of the others were pretty good like Israel and Belgium. I hope they find wider fame.

Maybe USA will be in it next time!

Apparently presenter Hannah Waddingham has found fame now in the USA due to her role in Ted Lasso.  Making it big in later life.   I'd never heard of her before that show and she's clearly talented.

New Zealand is trying to enter, while it might be Australia's last one.

Israel's Noa Kirel already has a good music career.

At least the UK didn't come last.

Why would Australia pull out?  I can see NZ joining in.  As long as they're in the EBU, they can join.  It might be a bit of a bubble - it's been so mega hyped up recently.  It has produced some stars and boosted some great musicians - legendary Abba of course.

UK has a bit of form on "null point".   I thought she'd do better.

Makes you wonder why some countries enter - France for example.  No way that was ever going to win.

Its not in the EBU. Special Broadcasting Service (SBS) made the country's debut at the 2015 contest with the song "Tonight Again", performed by Guy Sebastian. Although Australia is outside the European Broadcasting Area, the EBU and Austrian host broadcaster ORF decided to permit an Australian entry to commemorate the 60th contest.

I was looking (click) here.

NZ and Oz are on the list of associates.   Korea too.

I'd have thought Korea would produce some good songs considering the world wide appeal of K-Pop these days.
