Is Tunisia pet friendly ?

@memomo Hey Tunisia is very pet friendly you don t have to worry about your pets we have pet shops everywhere as well as vets and pet clinics. You ll definitely have somewhere to walk them we have places where people walk their dogs but i am not sure if you can do it without a leash on though. Renting with pets is no problem also, especially apartments most people rent with their dogs here.

Thank you!  That’s great news. In the UK they chase balls off lead  in local fields and they need to run like this to get enough exercise. It probably sounds silly but being able to have somewhere to let them off lead is a key factor in my decision.

@memomo Compared to United Kingdom.. Tunisia may not be such pet friendly.. 😟

Tolerance and friendly are two different ball games.. of course there are pets and vets in Tunis and other bigger cities..

I've owned dogs in Tunisia for nearly seven years. The best place for them to run off lead is a deserted beach, but you always need to keep an eye out for stray dogs, which are everywhere and when they form packs, can be threatening. Tunisians have no problems with pet dogs but are more tolerant than interested or charmed by them. Renting a property has never posed any problems, but my dogs are small terriers. Same with hotels, where dogs are welcome much more than in UK or US. Vets are okay but perhaps not up to the same standard as in more developed countries. The vet surgery may not have any equipment, just an exam table, eg. I was sent to a regular (human) hospital when my dog needed an X-ray, and it was basically a DIY procedure. Everywhere I've lived ticks are a serious problem that can and will invade your home, but Frontline is available at pharmacies and recommended! Hope this helps. Good luck.
