Want to teach English but no degree?

Post new topic

This might be for you!

I'm told by a local that the teachers are earning up to 35 million a month.

Google Dich translation, here, and continued here.

Fake certificates say you are for lazy, disrespectful, no good people and you will not be welcome in Vietnam with a fake certificate. Besides the certificate is not all the documentation you will need to teach here and I'm not going to tell you what else you need to fake. Vietnam only wants highly respectable professionals so do yourself a favor and take your fake butt to another country, you will not be welcome here.

@drutter

It would help to have read the article.

There is no university degree required, as far as I know, to teach a foreign language to a dog.

There are two links to Google translate included in the post which fully explain the article. It is a legitimate article from the publication "người lao động". The website focuses on different types of employment and/or working conditions in Vietnam, as well as recent news items of general interest to the local population.

The post links to an article where owners of dogs who wish their pet to learn/understand commands in a foreign language (English, Japanese, French, etc.) can enroll their pet for training in that specific language. Obviously such a service would require individuals with a working knowledge of the language being taught.

A university degree is not mandatory for such a position. Admittedly, it is a rather odd thing to consider enrolling one's pet in (and costly).

Though the article is a bit dated (2017), I'm told by locals that such training (learning?) centres are still in operation and are used by affluent Vietnamese, as well as by speakers of a foreign language who wish their pet to be trained in the owner's native tongue.

@Aidan in HCMC Sorry. There was no article at the top of this page. Therefore, I ignorantly replied to something I should have ignored : - )

Vietnam school trains man’s best friend using foreign languages

Wednesday, November 05, 2014

A decades-old dog training school in Ho Chi Minh City has been a familiar address over the last eight years for many dog lovers who wish to have a well-trained pet, especially those who want their best friends to be taught using foreign languages.

Dog training curriculum in English, French, Chinese

Dog trainers teach the ‘students’ in English, French or Chinese following requests from their owners.

More information on this school found in the article. (link, again)

Are you an expat with an aptitude for training dogs? If so, and if you do submit an application as a foreign language teacher at this school (or others offering a similar pet course), it would be great to hear back about your experience through the process.

Even better would be to hear back of your being hired as a foreign language teacher!

(note; I have no affiliation with any businesses linked in this thread)

(I do, however, love dogs:) ) (link to recent post)

Hello Tanushree Ghosh, welcome to expat.com, and thank you for your first post!

I have no specific details regarding these pet training schools. I do know, being told by local VN friends, that there are several such schools in and around both Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City.

Should you decide to pursue this, please take the time to report back to the forum.

We would certainly appreciate hearing from you. (link)
