Gluten free restaurants in Leiden area?

Hi there,

We're staying in Leiden for a few weeks this summer. As I can't eat gluten, I've been trying to source restaurants where we can meet up with friends/family in Leiden area.. I've searched on Dutch coeliac websites but there's not a lot of information. Likewise a lot of restaurant's websites don't indicate the 'allergen' list which I had believed was meant to be an EU-wide initiative. I am assuming that there may be a better chance of finding a restaurant for 'dinner' rather than 'lunch'!

Hi, thanks for your post. I generally don't see allergen listings on websites as much as I do actual menus at the restaurant itself. I googled "gluten free leiden restaurants" and it gave me a number of helpful results:

Hi, I am Dutch but don't live permanently in NL at this time. I spent almost 3 months in the Netherlands so far this past year (3 separate trips). Our daughter is GF and visited several times. I was in the north of NL so not in the Leiden area. Just wanted to say that many restaurants do not advertise having GF options but in actuality many do. We would just ask what they have for GF options and all the restaurants we went to will give you some options. They also seemed good about having separate fryers for frying GF foods. Jus saying don't feel discouraged if you don't see advertisements for GF restaurants bc I think you will find many options. Even in the North were the populations is lower with less tourists we had some great options for GF meals. We also had some good GF meals in Utrecht. Enjoy your time in Leiden!
