Hi All,

I applied for Unlimited Single Permit After 4 Years in Flanders region. Its been a month now and status still shows In behandeling bij Regio.

Does any one knows how much time it takes in Flanders to get approval?

P.S. i applied it via Working In Belgium online portal.

Lol it takes 4 month minimum... I checked this option they will give u RP for 1 year first time, and it will be hard to apply for D card since you must have valid card for 5 month from application. In general I think unlimited single permit makes no sense it is better to apply for D card after 5 years with valid A card. But if your A card was about to expire then it makes sense

It took me three weeks to get the unlimited single permit in the Brussels region. The permit is only valid for 1 year, but I will be applying for the L card at the same time I renew the single permit.

The benefit of the unlimited single permit is it allows you to easily change employers if you need to (i.e., a new employer would not have to request a work permit for you).

When an unlimited a card is about expire what's the procedure for renewal?

Just submit the last three months payslips to the commune and request a new card. You don’t need to go through the work permit procedure anymore. I would do the request 3 or 4 months before the current card expires. If your A card renewal coincides with your being in Belgium for 5 years you can request the renewal and an L or B card in parallel. The later take 5 months, so you don’t want your resident permit to expire while awaiting the L or D card.

@masstonsils0e thanks for your inquiry. did you experienced in that way? If so which region?

masstonsils0e

I’m in Brussels. This is how I will be doing the A card renewal/ L card request in Feb 2024.

The payslips are for the commune to confirm you have been working the last three months. Once they confirm that, they send info to immigration to approve residency. As mentioned you no longer need to request a new work permit. This is the major advantage to the unlimited work permit.

For you information the process for me to change status was complete in 22 days. Brussels approved my unlimited work permit one day after they reviewed my dossier for completeness (which was two days after I submitted it). Immigration approved my residency less than two weeks later.

The process that you are doing now thats exactly what i will do next year.

Yes this i was considering on my mind.As i have unlimited work permit i guess i shouldnt do entire process (as you mention your past messages)

This is very good and positive news if last 3 month payslips are enough :)

Btw did you wait for L card entire 5 years or Feb 2024 will you complete it?Can you apply a few months advance

@maharaji1984 - if the person is not local Belgium employee, not contributed social security, eligible for Unlimited single permit, after 4years, anyone got approved for this single permit.

maharaji1984

@Mbw001 if this is a question then answer is NO.

If this an affirmation i believe that source information is wrong.

@maharaji1984 this is just a question to know, Thanks for your update.
