SRRV cancellation. What reason is acceptable

Post new topic

petecarp

I am changing my visa from SRRV to 13A. multiple reasons which is for another topic.

On the cancellation form for SRRV, it asks for the reason.

Is conversion to 13A allowed to be given? the reason I ask is it stated you couldn't change your visa when I signed up for SRRV, but I think many do convert if married.

Or does anyone have experience and advise on an acceptable, to the BI, reason?

and anyone reading this, as usual, there is no logic to the process. You have to cancel the SRRV before applying to the 13A, and go n a tourist visa in the meantime. You cannot apply for the 13A, and have the SRRV canceled and 13A applied at the same time once the approval comes through

Welcome to the forum petecarp.

Yep you hit the nail on the head, cancel your SRRV with the PRA, go onto visitor visa mode while you apply for your 13a, oh and wait 6 months to get your deposit back less the cancellation fees.

Good luck and you seem to get the drift of how things don't operate logically here.

Cheers, Steve.

Yes you can cancel SRRV anytime you want.

The question asked is for statistics, there is nothing to be approved.

Message me if you need help. Maryrose has experience with cancellations.

Where is it stated that SRRV holders cannot change visa?

bigpearl

You are more up on this topic than I am emvaningen but all my readings over the years indicate that if you want to opt out/cancel your SRRV then you have to go onto a visitor visa until the PRA process the cancellation and never read any other options to swap a visa status, perhaps Maryrose can offer insights towards the OP's question/s?

Cheers, Steve.

@emvaningen IT WAS ON THE FORMS WHEN I APPLIED MANY YEARS BACK. BUT THINK ITS OK

@bigpearl whats the process in getting to a tourist visa while you wait for the 13A to be approved?  in case you are aware of the exact process. lady at BI just told me that when i cancel i automatically go to a tourist visa but doesn't know the process. its apparently magic...automatic :)

@petecarp

lol, as you know every thing here is magic, as for your question I have no idea as I've never held an SRRV and don't know the cancellation process. Perhaps while you still hold your SRRV visit your local immi office and get the info straight from the horses mouth.

I can only assume it won't be straight forward as nothing here ever is, good luck.

Cheers, Steve.
