Age Limit on Background Check

Post new topic

thebradster

Sorry if this has been answered. I did do a search and didn't find this question...

Is there an age limit where one does not have to get a background check for SRRV in the Philippines? I thought I remembered seeing after the age of 70 it isn't necessary. If this is the case, at 72 I should be harmless and not need a background check?

Welcome to the forum thebradster.

While I'm no expert I doubt there is an age restriction on back ground checks especially if looking at migrating to another country, those countries don't want guests with a criminal record especially if heinous crimes.

Some questions, do you live in the Philippines and if so after 6 months then you only need a local NBI clearance.

Are you planning to come here and apply for an SRRV upon arrival?

Good luck.

Welcome to the forum.

We were discussing the SRRV process on the "SRRV Payments" thread. An expat was talking about FBI clearance from the US, even though he was in the Philippines over 6 months. I believe he was younger than 70. I am in the Philippines over 6 months and I'm 71 years old and I'm only required to have the NBI clearance for my SRRV visa.

Contact a PRA agent.

Is the NBI clearance (acronym?)  performed in the Philippines? I want to make sure I bring everything with me that I need for the SRRV, and yes, I do plan to apply for the classic as soon as are reach the Philippines. Thank you for your replies.

As Moon Dog and I have said if you want the NBI (National Bureau of Investigation) done here you need to be in country for over 6 months before applying.

If you are applying on landing here then you will need to bring your countries police clearance with you, look at the checklist/requirements on the PRA's website before arriving, ducks in a row etc.

@thebradster You need to have your DD214 (if you served in the military) and your proof of income (such as your Social Security benefit verification letter) apostilled or notarized. Maybe you can have that done at your local Philippine embassy? It is a different process to have it done here, but not too bad, except for the travel in my case.

My PRA agent says everything is easy in Makati, especially the physical. You can do it all in one day. It is much more difficult doing all that in the province which is where I live. It took 2 months for the local BDO bank to establish my $1,500 deposit in the required PRA account. It may be easier using Land Bank.

To the OP, follow the PRA's requirements, the check list is extensive, be aware also that you will need to extend your visa to 60 days or longer if you can avail as the application for the SRRV can take 6/7 weeks, longer if you don't dot the i's or cross the tee's, they hold your passport so you can't extend your visitor visa, can't leave the country etc. they won't entertain the application unless you have 60 days minimum on your visa.

Why not simply have all your docs in order before you arrive, remember the security deposit has to come from abroad, perhaps contact them and get your info directly.

OMO.

The checklist below was sent to my by PRA agent Mary Rose. I recommend using a PRA agent. It doesn't cost you anything and the agent will earn money.

Hey, you guys are good! Thanks for your replies.

I would rather live in a country as a welcome guest than in my own country as an unwelcome citizen.

And my concern is to the OP why all the hype about getting police clearance, seems you are concerned about what you did in the past and as a 70 year old won't change facts, if you are clean then simply get your police clearance from your country. You have raised flags, others read these forums too.

Cheers, Steve.

The "Original signed affidavit of one and the same person, notarized. 3 copies" is on the list because on some documents I have my middle name spelled out and some documents only show my middle initial. If all your documents show your name exactly the same you can probably forget that one. Something to think about when creating or signing documents.

You might want to add Gary Glitter to that list because that is what it sounds like to me with no further useful information coming from the O/P.

At 72 I should be harmless was what he said - Sounds very dodgy to me. That is not the sort of thing that somebody convicted for possession of drugs, fraud theft, burglary would say.

@thebradster Welcome! My situation was a little different, as I applied for a 13a permanent resident visa while living in Florida. I needed a police report as part of that application and received it from the local sheriff's office. Since I had only been in FL for 5 years, that's all it covered, but since it was clean it was good enough for the Department of Foreign Affairs (PH Embassy in Wash. DC). Good luck!
