Purchasing a new car with OTV tax exemption

Hi everyone,

So I can get a disability tax exemption, the tax exemption is for up to 1,004,800TL. Cars that fall into this price range aren't suitable for me as I can't put my wheelchair into the passenger seat alone or it's a manual car which I can't drive.

Is it possible to negotiate with a dealer ship for them to put the price of the car as the maximum limit and then I pay the additional seperate (in this case, the extra is 150,000TL) ?

If you are disabled, better to take a taxi, good service (in general and if you are a regular client, ...) Rather then buying a car or alike, better to buy commitment from people. (Just my view). In general people in Turkey are  VERY accomodating I have to say (by own experience)

@cdw057 Thanks for that, I'd rather a car as I'll be using to travel around Europe. I get enjoyment and pleasure from traveling and driving. Driving > Planes, I like to see new places and getting a taxi to places like Bursa, Antalya and other places further away from Izmir isn't feasible in the long run.

For new vehicles, you may consider a Fiat Panda Cross 4X2, Citroen C3 or any of the models in the Dacia lineup. My recommendation is based solely on meeting your price criteria. I have no knowledge of the reliability/quality of these vehicles; I myself am considering getting a vehicle for travelling/sight seeing once I move to Turkey.  Or you may consider used vehicles listed on sahibinden.com. Websites for the vehicles I mention:

Best regards in your pursuit.

Dacia us definately out as they arent available with an auto box.

The panda has folding back seats but may not be large enough for a wheelchair...although I may be wrong.

C3 looks to be the front runner.

I was surprised to find out that the Dacia was almost all manual transmission (my preferred transmission) but delving further into the website, it looks like the "Yeni Sandero" and the "Yeni Sandero Stepway" both offer the "Essential Stepway Tce 90 bg CVT" engine/transmission combination.  Though 90 H.P. is very low offering very slow acceleration times to 100km/Hr.  I'm not sure if there are any reliability/quality issues with these vehicles.

If the C3 offers sufficient size for hauling a wheelchair, I would go with it.

Apologies Gino, they must have added the auto option in the last 12 months as when I looked last year it wasn't available. 😀

WGG, I believe that you'll loose your DLA/PIP if you make the move permanently with no registered UK address?

Hello,  what do you mean by a new car with OTV tax exemption?

Please clarify it for me.

If you are disabled a car is not a luxury but a necessity.

That to most reasonable people would explain the exemption.

Do you ask because you are disabled?

cdw057

@marktmorgan A taxi is convenient or a local who can service against a good price (I am sure there will be many interested people)

Depends how active life is

Sounds cruel and rude, but you can buy people (and their transport) at a good price.

You can ask them I am sure to do shopping for you.

cdw057

@WheelieGoodGamer You seem to get around quite a bit (much more then I do (I can not walk so easy (understatement)). I have no need to go here or there, a restaurant is fine, supermarket very sometimes, but that is what it is. My wife does the other things.

What I do not understand if one is disabled, why to go here or there, climibing is an issue anyhow. You can ask somebody to bring you to a restaurant (with a very very reasonable price I think). Owning own vehicle (NIGHTMARE)

I am not disabled (not officially anyhow) and I do not want to be. I can eat, I can drink, I can go to toilet (myself), I can smoke, I can go up to the stairs (still). What is to complain.

Buy a service, they are happy to help.

Cheaper than own vehicle and service afterwards,
