Work permit processing time

Hi everyone,

I’m looking for information about average waiting time for work permit. I can see in the Ministry’s website that a decision is given in maximum 30 days, but not sure if this is working or calendar days, and whether it’s usually processed quicker or slower than this timeframe.

I haven’t held a work/residence permit in the past (this is my first one) if that makes any difference.

Would appreciate the insight from anyone with a recent experience.

No real experience so you can treat mine as just my opinion.

I have been offered a couple of jobs in Turkey by large tourist companies.

What they have insisted on is

1) That I already have residency*

2) That I have a Turkish bank account.

3) That I have a Turkish address.

In return they will apply for my working visa and take care of my private medical insurance.

So in order for me, I shall

1) Rent a property in my chosen area for a minimum of 12 months.

2) Have a firm job offer including salary, that medical insurance is part of my contract and a firm start date.

3 Have a bank statement showing that I have the means to support myself if the job fails.

4) Book an appointment with the Turkish consulate in London to apply for my work visa a mimimum of a month prior to my start date

* I have spoken to the Turkish consulate in London and they have advised (I am not sure if correctly) that I can gain residency without having to buy a property with a TAPU value of greater than 75,000 USD

@s4l-l Perhaps I am naive, perhaps arrogant, but your employer should really arrange for this, not you. If you have an own company I am sure you can pay for a lawyer, just assuming you are an employee, your employer should deal with this (NOT YOU)

@s4l-l If your employer wants you, I am sure they have a legal department, why do you worry about this, you work for them only if they arrange? (or am I wrong?). Why you should do this yourself? Your employer surely has people experienced with this?

In my experience (Netherlands, UK, Luxembourg, Hungary) my employer did this and they paid because they wanted me.

What about you, do the company wants you? DO NOT DO something yourself is my feeling, if you are good, that is good, if not reason to be suspicious ( to say the least)

Hi @cdw057,

Thank you for the reply. Don’t worry; it’s not taken as naive or arrogant and I appreciate your input :).

in short, my employer is taking care of it all. I’m just asking here about people’s actual experience with the waiting time (compared to the standard quoted time) to help with travel plans. That’s all :)
