Slightly disappointing that only one person turned up on Friday, but its a new week, and hopefully we can have a good catch up this Friday.
Thanks guys...i'll be in dubai, so not sure how far that is from your guys meet up place.
So two questions:
1.Where in dubai can i get accom...lol! All affordable places online are fully booked!
2. What is the best mobile network to get hooked up with? I will need bbm for the duration of my stay.

Hi Masdoor,
Well I can't really help with you on the first question, have you tried looking on laterooms.com?
As for mobile network, well I use both Etisalat and Du. I prefer using Du with my Blackberry as the social network package is a lot better. I pay AED 130 per month, which is automatically deducted from my credit, and that gives me 10GB data, plus BB services, as well as access to all social networks and instant messaging.
I hope this helps.
Regards,
Mohit
Hi Mohit,
Good thing you have got going..!!
I have landed in Abu Dhabi last week.
I will be happy to meet you folks and am sure we could have some fun time too. Looking forward to hear from yall...cheers.
Sarwar
sounds great Mohit. when is the next movie event ? is it only on weekends or some dare devils want to see a movie on a weekday?
Well as we've had a sudden decline in the number of people participating or even responding, I have decided to step back a little, as it really isn't worth me wasting my on time, efforts and expenses in organising something, which no one can commit to, or end up cancelling without informing me. However, I am still running the meetup group, and instead of running it on a weekly basis I have now decided to run it on the last Friday of every month, so watch this space for our meetup this month.

Mohit

Oops, just read this and sorry to see this happening. As you know Mohit, I was busy with my parents but they are leaving next week and I will be glad to join your events.
See you soon hopefully.
Hi Everyone,
I have found difficulties meeting people, making friends in Abu Dhabi, I even chose to dedicate my first 30 days of vacation yearly to travel abroad to meet new people, i was successful in that anywhere outside Abu Dhabi.
I am a mechanical engineer, i have been in Abu Dhabi for a year now.
I would be happy with your suggestions,
you can email me on ayoub.glia@yahoo.com

Well i think, it has to do with the conservative culture, and lack of temptation in terms of socializing.
I also think that the luck of communication skills could be a barrier, and to be open to discussions, trying new things.
Well, or maybe i am the one who does not know how to approach people in Abu Dhabi and i need to learn how. hehe

Your fine Maha
As for Ayoub, I agree with Maha, its not as conservative as you think, the people are very nice and friendly out here, and my own experience is that they have all been very welcoming, and have helped me settle, which is probably why this now feels like my home, and I love this place

Looks like I missed that one. I have been off line for a while since our household goods arrived, just been busy getting it all put away. Hope more people showed up.
