Five years teaching experience in lieu of degree !

mikedylan2001

My cousin who taught in Vietnam legally with a work permit for six or seven years, now finds herself in the situation where she needs to produce a verifiable university degree to return to Vietnam to teach legally again. The problem is that previously she applied for and received the work permit on a certificate  from an employer in the United states stating that the work experience she had was equivalent to a degree and that she had studied in that job to the required level of a degree. This was perfectly legal Loophole 10 or so years ago. So could she return to Vietnam and get a legal work permit and residency card again. Could she use the five year experience? How to go about this process?

Start with the Embassy or a Consulate of Vietnam in the USA.

If she can fully document all of the above, they can (may be able to) approve her dossier and she/ her prospective employer can utilize that in Vietnam in obtaining a work permit.

The law stating requirements for teachers changed in 2021. There have been people who were teaching that are no longer qualified according to the law.
