Good luck with your studies, and potential stay in Spain!

Most visas need to be applied for at your local Spanish embassy. They typically have some funding requirements (living costs, based on IPREM, and health insurance) for the duration of your proposed stay, which can be challenging for some folks. But if you can afford it, I'm sure it would be a great opportunity!

My guess (I'm presuming that it's an invitation to do unpaid research) is that the most likely option is the student/study visa:

This official guidance is quite comprehensive. If you follow the instructions, and submit an application with all the documents and evidence that they ask for, you stand a very good chance of being approved. It's a list-following and box-ticking exercise, so should be a walk in the park for a big-brain PhD-type like yourself. :-)

Thank you very much
