We now avoid all flights and lay overs in Germany.
Why make life hard on yourself?
Too bad, we loved events at the old Alpine Village in Ca.
A Disneyland version is always better then the reality.
BTY, after another long 5 days of waiting and numerous e-mails and calls, my lost luggage arrived.
It seems even my bag did everything possible to avoid Germany!
It took the long way home.

Haha, I can imagine your bags on tour.

One of my bags was via DXB (Dubai) but was mislabelled for via DUB (Dublin).  Took 3 days to arrive with me at BUD but it was OK as I was at home. I always wondered about that. Notice DUB is BUD backwards so it could be some Arabic style misreading of the labels.

I've noticed I get messages on my phone now telling me if my bags have been loaded.  Usually it's with the airline app on a smartphone. I also get e-mails with the tag numbers.  It's a good idea of theirs.

Of course it doesn't help if the bags turn up days later.    I've had situations where the bags were chasing me all over and I've had to go out and buy emergency clothing and supplies.

I've learned to bring a few extras in my carry-on bag after that experience.

First we were stuck in Germany for 2 days, they asked everyone on the flight to pick up their bags and take them to the hotel they were putting us up in. My bags were no where to be found.

5 days later in Vegas they turned up, the silly delivery man brought them to the house at 1 am. Just as I finally feel asleep due to jet lag...

7 days around the world.

I was more upset about them misplacing my cutting shears then losing my clothing.

Miss the old days when you could bring shears on board with you.

I joked that I was about to start wearing my husbands undergarments if my bags didn't arrive soon.

My bro, the one who worked for over 37 years for differnt airlines said the few times he did fly, he never checked a bag in. He knew something we don't know.

I'd love to be a real ,"jet setter" who only carried their platinum credit card with them.

Nice to just say, "charge it".

You could be like the Queen and not carry money.  Your assistants could take care of the bill using your Platinum Card.   No need to interact with the plebs - just look at Elon Musk.  Looney tunes but rich enough not to care.

My sister gave me some melatonin for jet lag but I've never used it.  Now I just sleep whenever I want and within 3-4 or max 7 days, I'll be back resync'd  to the local timezone.  I don't try and fight it and stay up or anything like that.

I suppose I am a bit like the ,"Queen".

I never carry any money and often not even my ID...

Of course my husband is my sponsor...

I don't carry a heavy handbag with me very often these days.

When I do, it feels like a ton without much being inside.

Jet lag is the worst feeling to me.

It always hits me hard.

Takes a good week to get my timeclock back to normal.

One trip back to HU from Vegas I was out so hard it was hard to believe.

We arrived back to our flat and I went straight sleep.

My husband was wired and not sleepy so he went next door to chat about our trip with the old neighbors.

We were not thinking clear and I locked him out of the flat with the securitylock, the deadbolt.

He had his keys but they don't work when the bolt is on.

I hear a banging off and on for hours but can't wake up long enough to realize what's banging.

The neighbors and my husband were banging our common wall trying to wake me up for a few hours.

I was out like a light.

Good thing I fianlly woke up or he'd had to couch surf with the neighbors.

To think at one time I wanted to be a flight attendant.. It wouldn't of worked out for me at all.

I think the Queen carried some tissues and a  bit of makeup in her bag.  She certainly didn't have any money in it.  Her ladies-in-waiting would have been carrying those things.  I don't think she had a packet of Marlboro and a flask of Jack Daniels in there.   Would have been more interesting if she did.  I know she liked a nip of the hard stuff once in a while.  A crafty puff before showtime might have helped her cope.   I don't know what Charlie is carrying.  Camilla, his Missus, likes a smoke.  Be funny if she liked the odd spliff.

I remember being in the military, coming back from exercises, crashing in bed in the afternoon and waking up not the next day but the day after.  I was absolutely dog tired.  It was beyond tiredness. I did wake up a couple of times just to drink some water and go to the bathroom.

I met a French Navy officer who related the same kind of thing after being on exercises for weeks and weeks.  He reported in to his shore Naval hospital as feeling unwell.  He said they put him in bed and he said he didn't wake up for 3 or 4 days, only to eat and drink.  After a week he was discharged back to his ship. Just utterly exhausted.

She would not have a driving license or a passport (if overseas).

No, she wouldn't, you're right.

Bit of a quirky thing about Liz and Charlie.

Makes you wonder if Trump had a passport to visit the UK. I suppose he did but perhaps it was a diplomatic passport when President.  I've always wondered if he has a British passport given his Mum came from Scotland.  The nightmare there is the bloke could actually be elected as a British PM.   We're already had Boris as a dual national USA and UK (ok, I know, only nominally as he gave up his US nationality when he was mayor).

I think some people, even senior government people, still need visas to visit some countries, even if they have diplomatic passports.  I've never quite understood the difference between a service passport and a diplomatic passport.

@fluffy2560

There are three people who are exempt from having a passport, They do not require a passport to travel anywhere in the world. These 3 people are United Kingdom's King Charles III and Japan's Emperor Naruhito and Empress Masako. Before King Charles III, the privilege was with Queen Elizabeth II.

So USA President has to have one as well.   They could use Trump's mug shot for it.

They are referring to Camilla as Queen.  I am a bit disturbed by that.  I thought she was Queen Consort, not just Queen.  I don't think she'd have a passport when travelling with Charlie Boy.
